Part-time Dog Walker / Pet Sitter
Our current service areas are Glastonbury, East Hartford, Portland, Wethersfield, Marlborough and surrounding towns. As a Dog Walker / Pet Sitter, you'd be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable walks for dogs, as well as other pet care duties (ex: feeding, playtime, litterbox scooping and oral medication).
We are relied upon by the families who hire us to care for their furry family members while they are away and it truly is the best job!
Prompt and clear communication with pet guardians and our team is an essential. This includes adorable photos and detailed visit reports that highlight the exceptional care & enrichment we provide. Additional services that are available in this position, if interested, are Marketing, Housesitting (overnight at the client’s home), Boarding (overnight at your home), Hikes & Pet Transportation.

Why this may not be the right fit for you
• Hours aren’t guaranteed, and your schedule can vary from week to week, sometimes with little notice from clients.
• Connecticut weather is unpredictable, and we work outdoors in all conditions.
• You'll be traveling to clients' homes, so you'll need to have your own vehicle for pet visits and dog walks.
Requirements for employment
• Dedicated animal lover with a passion for caring for pets and enjoying the outdoors
• 18 years old and able to pass reference checks & federal background checks
• Have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation & a clean driving record are essential
• Obtain your own Pet Care Insurance with Paw-Pros,LLC named as additional insured
• Successfully complete certifications in Pet First Aid / CPR through American Red Cross, and Canine Body Language & Defensive Handling through IAABC​
• Have a smartphone and be comfortable using apps and texting to communicate with clients
• Be comfortable with hours that aren’t guaranteed, it’s best to have another source of income, as this role is intended to be supplemental.
• You must be reliable, punctual, dependable and a clear communicator. The pets in our care depend on us!
Path to employment
This ensures we hire the best pet sitters to represent paw-pros. The entire process can take 2-4 weeks.

• Pass a reference check & federal background check
• Contract signing & employee manual review
• Software training (coming soon)
• Provide proof of Pet Care Insurance policy with Paw-Pros named as additional insured
• Understand & utilize positive reinforcement, humane, fear-free & safe dog handling and basic obedience techniques.
• 1-3 weeks of 1:1 pet sitter training; shadowing a current Paw-Pros caregiver.
